Create Model Mapping Function

Description:

This tool helps user map one UML model to other models and create a mapping model automatically. This tool supports two difference kinds of mappings.

  1. Basic Mapping. This mapping simply maps two attributes.
  2. Calculated Mapping. This mapping allows user to use a set of functions to map one or more attributes from one model to an attribute in another model.

The tool also provides an auto mapping function which simply iterate through each attribute and match the name with the attributes in the destination models. If an attribute in the source model has the same name with an attribute in the destination models, a basic mapping will be created automatically.

After user completes the mapping process, a mapping model will be generated automatically. This mapping model contains all the details about each mapping.

Tutorial

1. Right click on the source model and select “Create Model Mapping” from Solid Ground Add-in menu.

2. Add destination models. You can add more than one destination models(Packages).

3. Create Mappings.

All the mapped destination attributes will be marked in green.

Use “Auto Mapping” function to simply map the attributes by name. This function will create mapping for attributes which have the same name.

Use “Basic Mapping” function to create one to one mapping manually.

Use “Calculated Mapping” function to create many to one mapping. A set of predefined functions can be used to build complicate mapping.

      •	Specify the destination attribute. 
      •	Select one or more functions from the list. Bring the function into the Script edit box by double click on the selected functions.
      •	Drag required attributes from the source model tree and drop them in the script edit box as parameters of the selected functions
      •	Click on “Save” button when finished.
4. Click on the “Complete” button to complete the process and generate mapping model.
