Collaborating with the GeoSciML project

We welcome approaches for collaboration. As the GeoSciML project is being undertaken as a collaborative activity itself, and is not a single activity under the auspices of any single incorporated body, collaboration arrangements both within and external to the project team are informal.

Letter of Collaboration

In order to maintain the integrity of GeoSciML as an open, community-governed standard, it is necessary for collaborators to accept some ground-rules, which are applied uniformly. These are summarized in a pro-forma letter of collaboration, attached below.

Industry Collaborations

  • 3D GeoModeller: investigation of import/export of data in GeoSciML format to this modeling software
  • GSI3D: investigation of import/export of data in GeoSciML format to this modeling software

University Collaborations

Standards Collaborations

Some communities are developing languages for specialized geoscience applications, which are derived from GeoSciML, or influenced and partially harmonized with GeoSciML. These are under independent governance, and have varying degrees of compatibility with GeoSciML. Groups interested in these subject areas are encouraged to collaborate in the design of solutions that can be broadly adopted within their community.
