Organisation of "CGI Interoperability Working Group"

  • Role: to provide a forum for collaboration concerning interoperable geoscience information and processing services
  • Organization:
    • Steering Committee
      • Membership: JohnLaxton (chair), TimDuffy, SteveRichard, OliverRaymond, JeanJacquesSerrano, JouniVuollo
      • Responsibilities:
        • Work/content coordination
          • coordinates formation of task groups, setting of task group goals and timescales
          • monitor the activity of task groups, including the acceptance of deliverables
          • reporting line between task groups and CGI Council
        • External communications
          • initial point of contact with external parties
          • liaison with collaborators outside the geological survey community
    • GeoSciML Interest Community
      • informal "at large" membership
      • participate in TWiki and e-mail discussions
      • notification of events and invitations to join task groups

In order to improve communication between the Steering Committee and the wider GeoSciML community a SteeringGroupDiscussion page has been set up. This will provide feedback on Steering Group discussions and decisions and invite input from the community. This page can also be used by members of the community to raise issues for discussion by the Steering Group

GeoSciML Design task group

Successor to the Model and Encoding task group.

Responsible for the structural and syntactic aspects of the "Information Model" of a GeoSciML -based service architecture.

  • Tasks:
    • design GeoSciML v4 for OGC submission to meet the requirements identified by the use-cases
    • manage the development of the technical specification documents
    • liaison with the Geoscience Terminology Working Group
      • note that GeoSciML design is concerned with the structural aspects of the data model. These are complemented by vocabularies and classifications which define the domains of feature properties, which are the concern of the GTWG
