Developers Quick Start Guide to getting Grid

Getting Grid in 7 steps

This Procedure assumes the following:

(1) Get your grid certificates - http://www.vpac.org/twiki/bin/view/APACgrid/CaInterface

(2) Get access to a Globus 4 (GT4) Installation or preferrably install your own copy for development (GridDevelopmentEnvironment)

(3) Learn how to use the basic Globus clients to execute your code (grid-proxy-init, globusrun-ws etc) - see following for usage: GlobusBasicUsage and http://www.globus.org/toolkit/docs/4.0/execution/wsgram/user-index.html OR alternatively try out the GenericGridGUI

(4) Detail usage of Globus client programs so your users can use them

(5) organise grid resources (ie: SRB storage, computational nodes etc)

(6) contact users (org. certificates and resources for them, give them client programs to user - typically the ws-core of globus)

(7) Now YOURE Grid!!!
