GPGIM

Stands for GPlates Geological Information Model.

The GPGIM is the high-level information model describing the fundemental building blocks of GPlates communication. It defines geological features as well as structures required to reconstruct these features through geological time.

Unlike GPML, it aims to not get tied down to specific implementation details. The spirit of the GPGIM is to define the information model as comprehensively as possible for all potential implementations (or "serializations") of it; for example, the XML Schema serialization, or the C++ object model serialization.
