WA_sample_data.xls - Sample geochemistry data from WA--

XL table rows show specimen-id's and results of a set of analyte measurements. Presumably specimen is tied to a location somehow? What other information about the specimen would be expected to be available as part of a Geochem report from the WA archives through this interface?

(Note: GeochemExamplesSA includes a table that describes the specimens, in some detail, in addition to the table that shows the geochem.)

The XLS examples appear to be (denormalised) reports. Can you supply the table schemas that are the source?

Additional comments

Other information re specimens that can be represented in geochem reports.

The example shown as WA_sample_data.xls is a variant of the original SIF format, imported into a spreadsheet.

Various commercial LIMS allow the client specimen prefix (more often identified as hole number) to be optionally be used to report specimens grouped by client field location. This can also apply to the specimen suffix for chronological and other field-id location determination.

The current reports previously reviewed were basic specimen ID reports which only display the whole specimen id. The more complicated assay reports allow page breaks upon specimen prefix for hardcopies.

On several disk based reports this may be represented as a seperation of the prefix from the actual specimen ID. E.g. a seperate column for prefix and another for the id. (see Newmont format and the Original SIF specifications)
