Release Overview

It is our pleasure to announce the full release of the Virtual Geophysics Laboratory (VGL) v1.1.2. The VGL is a scientific workflow portal that provides Geophysicists with access to an integrated environment that exploits eResearch tools and Cloud computing technology. It is a collaboration between CSIRO, Geoscience Australia (GA), and the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI), and has been funded by the Federal Government’s Education Investment Funds through NeCTAR

Release Notes

This release has included numerous bug fixes and improvements. Some of the more noteworthy changes include:
  • Support for hundreds of new geophysical datasets and satellite imagery from the various state and territory geological surveys.
  • Onscreen interactive help.
  • Email alerts for completed jobs.
  • Configurable job resources - Choose how many CPUs and how much memory your job needs!
  • Newly streamlined dataset selection.
  • Support for Open Layers as the default mapping provider.
  • Much more advanced job script templates for Underworld and escript.
  • Updated versions of Underworld and escript.
